Majis inks treated industrial effluent pact

Muscat: For the full implementation of zero liquid discharge concept at Sohar Industrial Port, Majis, on Monday signed a 20 year Treated Industrial Effluent (TIE) agreement with Myah Gulf Oman Desalination Company. The complete project is expected to be ready in the first quarter of 2019.
This agreement is one of its kind to be signed with the first Reverse Osmosis (RO) Sea Water Desalination Plant at port of Sohar looking after environmental concerns even for few occurrences of the year.
Due to the nature of Industrial effluent generation stream in the RO desalination plants, Majis has designed a special model of agreement for this service, which uses the concept of volumetric charges with no flat volume during the year.
The deal includes installation of new extension of pipeline made of HDPE to Majis main TIE network with complete instantaneous monitoring system for the effluent discharge.
With this achievement Majis has covered almost 92 per cent of effluent discharge from Sohar port tenants and awaiting other deals to be connected to its network.
