Consumer watchdog helps recover over OMR180,000 in Oman

Muscat: The Public Authority for Consumer Protection’s (PACP) department in the Wilayat of Seeb has helped recover OMR183,177.50 in the first half of 2018.
According to statistics, the department in Seeb received a total of 1,335 complaints and 466 reports from consumers during the first half of the year. The money was recovered through amicable settlements.
The highest amount, OMR74,201.50, was recovered from the labour services sector, followed by OMR17,761 that was recovered from workshops that repair cars. That was followed by the tourism services sector when a total of OMR17,057 was recovered.
Ziad Al Wahaibi, Director of the Department said: "The Department is working hard to preserve the rights of consumers, through various legal means available, stressing the importance of the role of the consumer and their cooperation in submitting reports against violators."
