Oman transport: Mwasalat sees rise in passenger figures in 2018

Muscat: Mwasalat transported over 2.5 million passengers during the first half of 2018.
Figures for the period between January 1 and June 30, 2018 showed a growth rate of 15 per cent from the corresponding period of last year.
According to the latest statistics issued by Mwasalat, the average number of passengers per day in 2018 increased to 14,000.
This data includes all of the company’s routes within Muscat and its external routes to different parts of the country.
In 2017 Mwasalat transported an average of 12,000 passengers per day, or more than 2.2 million in total.
The Ruwi-Mabella routes recorded the highest number of passengers this year at 800,000, followed by the Ruwi-Amerat and Ruwi- Wadi Kabir routes, which had over 400,000 and 300,000 passengers respectively.
Of the 2.5 million total passengers, 2,367,917 were recorded on internal routes, while 175,671 passengers were recorded on external routes to various other governorates in the Sultanate or Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
