Shark found at beach near Al Khaboura

Muscat: A shark washed ashore near Al Khaboura in the North Al Batinah governorate on Saturday.

Al Khaboura News reported the news via its Twitter handle.

The particular species of shark is yet to be identified, however the fins on its body can be made out clearly, as can a prominent spotted pattern on its body. A professor from SQU who specialises in sharks identified it as Rhinchodon typus, which is the scientific name for whale shark.

“Fisherman Nasser bin Zayed Al Qatiti from Al Khuwairat village in the wilayat of Al Khaboura caught a large fish” Al Khaboura News said
