Muscat: Ithraa, the Sultanate’s inward investment and export development agency, has teamed up for the sixth year with The Business Year (TBY) to launch “The Business Year: Oman 2019,” a comprehensive and in-depth report on the Sultanate’s ambitious economy.
The partnership with TBY, a leading international research firm and publisher, was aimed at promoting unique business opportunities in Oman.
TBY is present in over 35 countries, and each country-specific edition of the report contains a comprehensive range of interviews and analyses, offering an inside look into what it's like to do business in the world’s most dynamic economies. The publication’s interviewees, readers, and partners comprise an international network of thought-leaders who are helping define the future of the global economy.
TBY is currently working to produce The Business Year: Oman 2019, the sixth publication on the country’s economy and investment opportunities.
The launch event for The Business Year Oman: 2018 took place at the Golden Tulip Seeb Hotel and featured speeches by Mohammed Al Toobi, Minister of Environment & Climate Affairs, and Taleb Saif Al Makhmari, Ithraa’s Director General of Marketing and Media.
“Our work is centred on raising Oman’s international business profile, whether that’s taking Omani exporters to international trade shows in Italy, India, and Qatar or hosting visiting manufacturers looking to set up a plant in Oman," explained Al Makhmari.
"We are working hard to attract inward investment and talent, promote Oman’s growing number of non-oil exports, as well as encouraging the next generation of Omani entrepreneurs. Supporting TBY team is key to these efforts,” he added.
Ithraa’s Director General went on to point out that TBY Oman is “a quality publication that provides readers with a comprehensive overview of the workings of Oman’s growing economy.”
The publication features more than 200 interviews with top executives and government officials, including a special contribution from His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. In addition, key government officials, such as Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry; Sheikh Abdullah Nasser Abdullah al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, and Dr. Salim Sultan al Ruzaiqi, CEO of the Information Technology Authority, share their opinions on improving the investment climate, Omanisation efforts, and eGovernment plans, respectively.
The project’s supporting partners, Yahyaei and Salt, also contributed to the publication by providing key statistics on exports and Oman’s business environment and by describing the Sultanate’s legal framework to further encourage local and foreign investors to choose Oman as a prime business hub in the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Middle East.
“TBY Oman tells the outstanding success stories that make up the vibrant tapestry that is Oman’s thriving business community,” Al Makhmari said. “It’s an invaluable business guide for anyone interested in exploring the exciting business opportunities Oman offers international investors today.”
