Oman share index ends lower

Muscat: The MSM30 index ended lower on Monday and closed at 4556.02 points, down by 0.10 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 653.22 points, down by 1.06 per cent. Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of volume and in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was Oman and Emirates Investment Holding, up by 3.64 per cent. Today’s top losers were Shell Oman Marketing and Al Maha Petroleum, both closed lower by 10 per cent.
A total number of 219 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR1.91 million with more than 4.66 million shares changing hands. Out of 35 traded stocks, 7 advanced, 9 declined and 19 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR475,000 worth of shares followed by Omani Investors the for OMR473,000, while Foreign investors were net sellers for OMR948,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index gained 0.25 per cent to close at 7041.12 points. Oman and Emirates Investment Holding Ahli Bank and Bank Muscat were up by 3.64 per cent, 1.88 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively. Al Madina Takaful and Al Anwar Holding were down by 0.97 per cent and 0.78 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index gained 0.01 per cent to close at 6098.49 points. Gulf International Chemicals and Galfar Engineering & Contracting SAOG were up by 2.09 per cent and 1.83 per cent respectively. Sweets Of Oman, Oman Fisheries and Almaha Ceramics were down by 5.67 per cent, 1.79 per cent and 0.45 per cent.
Services Sector Index lost 1.58 per cent to close at 2,436.55 points. Renaissance Services and Sohar Power were up by 2.38 per cent and 0.88 per cent respectively. Shell Oman Marketing, Al Maha Petroleum Products Marketing Company, Al Suwadi Power and Oman Telecommunication were down by 10 per cent, 10 per cent, 1.69 per cent and 0.54 per cent respectively.
