Oman changed my view of Arabs for the better, says Indian actor Aadil Hussain

Muscat: Visiting Oman has changed my perceptions about an Arab country and Arabs a lot, said Aadil Hussain, a globally recognised Indian actor.
“My view of an Arab country was totally changed when I landed in Oman. People here are quite friendly. They always have a pleasing nature and attitude towards expatriates,” Hussain said.
“I have not been to any Arab country in the past. Have only heard about them. However, the lovable nature of Omanis leaves me surprised as it is quite contradictory of what I have heard,” he added.
Hussain, an Indian stage, television and film actor, who has worked in international films, such as the ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’ and ‘Life of Pi’ – is in Oman to play the lead role in an Indian movie being shot here.
The actor, who always loves to perform complex characters on stage and in front of camera, said Omanis, who love to act have to pursue their dream with passion and look for opportunities to learn the craft of acting at global drama schools.
The movie entitled ‘Naval Enna Jewel’ is being directed by Renji Lal Damodaran. The story is inspired by an Iranian novel and the script has been written by V K Ajithkumar, along with Renji Lal.
Priyah Prakash Pawani, a Muscat-based model, is also playing an important role in the movie.
Awesome experience
“Its quite an awesome experience to act in a movie in which respectable artists Aadil and others are there. Quite anxious,” Priyah said. According to Renny Johnson, the executive producer of the movie, it is a story about human connections.
“The story revolves around the struggles of a female, who is forced to live the life of a male in disguise,” Johnson said.
“Swetha Menon, Indian model and actress, is playing the male role in disguise, and Reem Kadem, a Hollywood actress, is also playing a role,” said Johnson, who is also the executive manager for Mezoon Travels, which has shot more than 20 movies in Oman.
Kadem made her debut in Hollywood opposite Kristen Bell in the film ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ and Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development) on the UPN series, “Veronica Mars.”
Indian actors Sudheer Karamana and Mythili Balachandran also are playing important roles in the movie.
“Many Indian movies, a few entirely and others in parts, were shot in Oman in the past. Oman’s inspiring landscapes and other facilities are helping us produce more and more movies,” Johnson added.
