Muscat: Oman Air’s latest Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner arrived in Muscat on Saturday afternoon after crossing thousands of kilometres on a journey that began in Seattle, Washington.
The new addition to Oman Air’s growing fleet will be used on the national carrier’s flights to the United Kingdom.
“Oman Air passengers will enjoy a comprehensive Boeing 787 experience when travelling from Muscat to the UK,” the airline said.
The wide-body Boeing 787-9 is a stretched version of the advanced long-range twin engine B787-8. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft is configured with 30 award-winning flat-bed Business Class suites, designed by BE Aerospace and 258 Economy Class seats.
All classes feature the state-of-the-art Thales Integrated In-Flight Entertainment System which provides an even more enjoyable guest experience, allowing access to a wide selection of on-demand entertainment delivered through a passenger experience interface developed specifically for Oman Air.
As a wider 787-8, the 787-9 can fly more passengers and cargo farther -- 290 passengers over 14,140 kilometres yet with the same 20 per cent better fuel and emissions, allowing airlines to grow routes first opened by its predecessor.
Fully enclosed, the suite has 55 inch extra tall doors to ensure complete privacy. The aircraft will be equipped with leading technology and the latest in comfort and amenities, including cutting edge entertainment to enhance the travel experience of their guests.
Oman Air expects to receive a total of three 787-9 Dreamliners by the end of this calendar year.

A host of enhancements will be introduced across all cabins from dining, amenities and comfort. A new exclusive chinaware, cutlery, glassware, linens and bedding collections will be launched to provide Oman Air premium guests with a unique, bespoke experience. In Economy class, a new meal service, amenities and comfort items will be introduced to ensure Oman Air consistently enhances its award winning economy class product. Not forgetting young flyers, a new set of children’s activity kits called Junior Sinbad will also be launched to keep children entertained.
