Annual bright ideas workshop series begins across Oman

Muscat: In a bid to encourage creative thinking among Omani entrepreneurs, Shell Intilaaqah, with its ‘Aspire and Inspire’ programme, kicked-off its annual training classes, carried out by Shell Development Oman (SDO) and the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Riyada), with its Bright Ideas Workshop series held in four wilayats in the Sultanate.
The workshop’s main objective is to excite entrepreneurs, firing up their best creative thinking skills, to help them in the creation of new business ideas.
Regarding the programme, Al Mutajaredah Al Mandhari, Director of Mentorship and Training Department from Riyada, said, “In order for entrepreneurs to start their journey and unleash their full potential, innovative thinkers must embrace the entrepreneurial culture. Offering a new proposition to the market requires hard work and dedication, but most importantly is the willingness to think beyond, acquire key skillsets and knowledge, while always remaining focused on their ultimate goal of becoming a successful business venture.”
With plans to be conducted at four locations, the Bright Ideas Workshop is an interactive two-day exercise that targets entrepreneurs interested in starting their own businesses. Whether participants have a business idea or have recently set-up a business, or are intending to develop an existing business, this workshop is considered the first step in their entrepreneurial journey. During the workshop, a team of experts will help them acquire the skills to develop their business ideas and transform them into reality.
Regarding the workshops, Najwa Mansoor Al Kindi, Director of Shell Intilaaqah said, “With our evolved edition of ‘Aspire and Inspire’ underway this year, we are excited to introduce aspiring Omani talent to the world of entrepreneurship. In order to succeed in anything they do, they need a set of skills and knowledge. In addition, entrepreneurs need to be flexible in their thinking process, always looking to unleash their inventive genius.”
The Bright Ideas Workshop series aims to educate about entrepreneurship and provide participants with the tools to develop ideas, while training on pitching and evaluating their feasibility and viability of implementation in the market. The first workshops took place in Muscat, Nizwa, Sohar and Salalah, with other sessions to follow in Muscat, Al Dhakhilya, Al Batina North and Salalah.
Shell Intilaaqah’s ‘Aspire and Inspire’ edition is jointly hosted by Shell Development Oman (SDO) and the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Riyada). Both parties have renewed this collaboration in 2018 to continue supporting entrepreneurs in various areas; including training, mentoring and counselling for an additional three years.
