Nepali envoy joins Omanis, expats in Russia for World Cup

Muscat: The Nepali ambassador to Oman was among the large number of people from the Sultanate including Omanis and expatriates who are in Russia for the 2018 World Cup.
Speaking to the Times of Oman, Ambassador Sarmila Dhakal said, “It was an amazing experience to watch the matches live.”
“I was not just representing Nepal, but Oman, too, as an Ambassador to Oman. It was a wonderful moment, a very joyous moment for me to be there.”
Her time in Russia reunited her with friends from the Sultanate, including the former Russian Ambassador to Oman and his wife, as well as those from the Nepali Embassy in Moscow. The experience also allowed her to enjoy true Russian hospitality. “We were given a warm welcome and the people have been very hospitable,” she said.
“We even met one of Russia’s top singers and musical directors.”
“Moscow has done a great job managing all their visitors,” she noted. Her trip has inspired her to look ahead to future World Cups. “I hope to one day see Nepal and Oman play in the next World Cup, so I can have my friends sitting besides me,” said Ambassador Dhakal.
