Oman share index ends lower

Muscat: The MSM30 index ended lower on Monday and closed at 4583.27 points, down by 0.22 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 658.93 points, up 0.01 per cent. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was Oman Education and Training Investment company SAOC, up by 5.71 per cent, while Al Anwar Holding, down by 8.45 per cent, was the top loser of the day.
A total number of 553 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR2.95 million with more than 18.39 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded stocks, 6 advanced, 16 declined and 16 remained unchanged. At the session close, Foreign Investors were net sellers for OMR471,000 worth of shares followed by the GCC & Arab investors for OMR19,000, while Omani investors were net buyers for OMR490,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index lost 0.97 per cent to close at 7079.76 points. Bank Nizwa was the only gainer and was up by 2.22 per cent. Al Anwar Holding, National Bank of Oman, Muscat Finance, Gulf Investments and Al Madina Investment were down by 8.45 per cent, 2.75 per cent, 2.25 per cent, 1.96 per cent and 1.96 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index lost 0.42 per cent to close at 6070.88 points. National Aluminium Products and Oman Flour Mills were up by 2.94 per cent and 0.51 per cent respectively. Oman Cement, Al Anwar Ceramics, Oman Fisheries and Galfar Engineering were down by 2.06 per cent, 1.83 per cent, 1.79 per cent and 0.9 per cent respectively.
Services Sector Index gained 0.26 per cent to close at 2,467.40 points. Oman Education and Training Investment company SAOC, Renaissance Services and Ooredoo were up by 5.71 per cent, 1.99 per cent and 1.54 per cent respectively. OIFC, Muscat City Desalination, and National Gas were down by 1.77 per cent, 1.33 per cent and 1.16 per cent respectively.
