Omani footballer Ahmed thanks fans for their support

Muscat: Omani football player Ahmed Kano Mubarak has thanked his fans for all their support, after he was recently honoured by the Oman Football Association for representing the country on more than 150 occasions.
Kano was given a special jersey with the number 150 emblazoned on the back, in place of the standard kit numbers that are found on football jerseys, and he took the time to thank everyone who had helped him on his journey.
Kano was awarded the memento at a training camp organised by Oman national team coach Pim Verbeek, who had brought together his players to train ahead of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, which is to be held in the United Arab Emirates early next year.
“Thank you from the depths of my heart to the Board of Directors of the Football Federation headed by Sheikh Salem Al Wahaibi,” said Kano, who plays as a defensive midfielder.
“Thank you to Dr Jassim Al Shukaili, Second Vice President of the Federation and Chairman of the Election Committee. Thank you to my fellow players. Thank you to the fans for their permanent support. Thank you to all my friends. I hope to be as good as everyone thinks I will be.”
“Words cannot describe the extent of the happiness I feel,” added Kano, who plays for Qatari club Al Messaimeer.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all those who supported me throughout my career. Thank you to His Highness Shihab bin Tariq Al Said for the great honour and celebration that will remain immortal in my memory.”
“We honour our leader and star fighter Ahmed Kano, who rediscovered himself strongly in the 23rd Gulf Cup with the support of his family, and I hope to be a catalyst and support him and his fellow players in the coming years,” added Mohsin Al Masroori, First Vice President of the Oman Football Association and member of the Board of Directors of the Oman Olympic Committee.
Ahmed was named the most valuable player at the 2017 Arabian Gulf Cup of Nations, which was won by Oman, when they beat the United Arab Emirates 5-4 on penalties. Kano was ever present in the Sultanate’s road to victory in Kuwait City.
“Blessed are you, O great star, and the wonderful and dear man, in my heart and in the hearts of thousands of the masses who love you and give you and your sincerity praise over the years. God bless you always,” added Khalid Al Busaidi, chairman of SABCO group.”
Khamis Al Balushi of the Oman FA added, “This is a worthy honour for the brilliant Kano, who stays on his path with the reds and is still the leader. Another task awaits you soon in the Asian Cup, and may you and your companions be a source of joy for all the community.”
