Omani students’ body in New Zealand holds its annual gathering

Muscat: The Omani Student Association (OSA) of New Zealand recently held its annual gathering in the North Island city of Auckland during the Easter break. Ninety Omani students from all over New Zealand attended the gathering, says a press release.
The three-day event started off with a celebratory dinner held at the University of Auckland during which students were able to socialise and network while catching up with each other.
The second day started off with a ’Catch The Flag’ game, which involved the attendees being divided into 10 different teams, and each team having to solve riddles in order to find out the location of their rivals teams base enabling them to therefore steal their opponents flags. The primary objective of the game was to allow the attendees to see as many landmarks of Auckland city as possible. The evening of the second day included an opening ceremony with welcome speeches by the student leaders and lots of creative videos filmed and designed by some Auckland students.
The final day kicked off with a kiwi-style burger BBQ and the event concluded with a chartered cruise around Auckland harbour exclusively for Omani students.
Shihab Ali Al Busaidi, president of the Omani Student Association of New Zealand, was quoted saying: “The annual gathering is one of the most highly sought after events by the vast majority of Omani students in New Zealand. I was extremely marvelled and impressed by the accomplishments of the Auckland association this year despite the very limited funding received from the Ministry of Higher Education due to the ongoing oil crisis in Oman. We sincerely hope that companies and organisations in Oman will consider supporting us in the future.”
Zainab Mujataba Al Lawati, president of the Omani Student Association of Auckland, expressed her gratitude and appreciation to everyone in her team who took part in making this event a huge success and thanked all attendees for coming. She further added that the gathering was a brilliant opportunity for all students to showcase their unique talents and was also a wonderful opportunity for all students to gather away from all the stresses of studies.
