Oman, Belarus to boost education cooperation

Muscat: Oman and Belarus reviewed bilateral educational ties on Monday when Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education received in her Office on Monday Mihail Zhuravkov, Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus and his accompanying delegation currently visiting the Sultanate.
The two sides reviewed aspects of joint cooperation between the two countries and ways of developing them, within the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides during the visit of the Omani delegation to the Republic of Belarus.
Dr. Al Shaibaniyah affirmed the Sultanate’s keenness on activating the memorandum of understanding in the educational aspects as to enhance joint action between the two countries, pointing out to the existence of an initiative to write stories by children of the Sultanate and Belarus to familiarise Belarusian students with Omani symbols and Omani students with Belarusian symbols.
The Belarusian guest expressed his happiness to visit the Sultanate and to learn about the programs and activities of the Ministry of Education, which are similar in many aspects with those programmes and activities implemented by the Ministry of Education in Belarus, pointing out that he will study the call made by Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniyah to participate in the special program of dialogue of cultures.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Massouma bint Habib Al Ajmiya, Advisor to the Minister of Education for the Development of linguistic Performance, Mohammed bin Sulyem Al Yaqoubi, Secretary of Oman National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, Dr. Sana bint Sabil Al Balushiya, Director General of the National Centre for Vocational Guidance, in-Charge of the Specialised Center for Teachers’ Vocational Training, and Sulaiman bin Saif Al Kindi, Director General of the Directorate General of Information Technology.
College visit
The Minister of Education of Belarus and his accompanying delegation also visited the Higher College of Technology today.
The guest was received by Dr. Abdul Hakeem bin Hilal Al Ismaili, Director General of Technical Education in the presence of Dr. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Ambusaidi, Dean of the College.
The two sides touched on aspects of cooperation between the College and the Ministry of Education of Belarus in the technical field and means of enhancing them. The guest and his accompanying delegation were briefed on the march of technical education in the Sultanate and the study system at technology colleges.
