Oman's Majlis Al Shura approves draft law to curb money laundering

Muscat: Majlis Al Shura, on Monday approved the draft Anti Money Laundering and Finance of Terrorism Draft Law, referred by the Council of Ministers and which was studied by Majlis Al Shura Legislative and Legal Committee.
The approval came at the 12th annual sitting of Majlis Al Shura’s first annual session for 2015-2016 of its 8th term under the chair of Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura.
At the public session, Khalid bin Ahmed Al Sa’adi, Deputy Chairman and Rapporteur of the Legislative and Legal Committee presented the draft law which included some amendments to the draft, the opinion of the Committee for each article of the draft law, the justifications behind the amendments and additions.
After detailed discussions of the articles of the law, the draft law was approved based on the study of the Legislative and Legal Committee and was referred to the State Council.
Human Cloning
Majlis Al Shura also approved the visions of the Health and Environment Committee on the draft Arab agreement for organising the donation and transplantation of human organs and tissues and the Arab Convention for Preventing and Combatting Human Cloning.
The report of the committee was submitted by Dr. Mohammed Ali Baqi, members and rapporteur of the committee.
On the other hand, members of Majlis Al Shura reviewed the replies by the Ministers on some issues that were presented by members, such as parliamentary questions and inquiries on some development projects.
It is worth mentioning that Majlis Al Shura will dedicate the 13th session that will be held on Tuesday morning (Tuesday) to discuss the Omani Penal Code, in light of the study of the Legislative and Legal Committee.
