Muscat: The central market administration in Muscat has made some changes to its working hours for Eid Al Fitr.
It said different varieties of fruits and vegetables are available in sufficient quantities to meet the needs of consumers during Eid.
Companies have made preparations for this season early by increasing the number of shipments. Some 1,047 trucks came to the market between May 17 and June 5, with 20,940 tonnes of vegetables and fruits.
The municipality has ensured thart there is no risk to the health of consumers by conducting inspections and weeding out 158 tonnes of rotten fruits and vegetables that were not fit for human consumption.
The central market also extended its working hours during Eid.
It opens at 4.30am and closes at 11pm from Monday, the 26th day of Ramadan to Thursday, the 29th day of Ramadan.
The market will be closed during the first two days of Eid, and shall resume work on the third day.
