Muscat: An Omani man has appealed to the authorities for help in locating his son who has gone missing in Saudi Arabia.
His 21-year-old son, Ghanim Al Maa’mari, has been missing since February 25, according to family members. Ghanim, a resident of Sohar, told his family that he was going back to work after he spent a one-week-long holiday with them but he has disappeared since then.
His father, Saeed Al Maa’mari, told the Times of Oman that his son was in the UAE from February 25 until March 8. “We were told by the Omani authorities that my son entered Saudi Arabia on March 8. I don’t know what happened to him. His disappearance is unusual for us. The whole family misses him. We just want him to come home,” he said.
The missing Omani was last seen in Damman, Saudi Arabia. Saeed added that Ghanim had withdrawn some money from an ATM in Dammam.
He withdrew around OMR200 from the ATM. “He withdrew all the money he had in his account in one day. He drove my vehicle. I don’t even know the whereabouts of the vehicle,” he further said. Ghanim took a loan of OMR13,000 from a local bank here. He is now a loan defaulter, according to his father.
“We reported the case to the Saudi authorities, thanks to the efforts of the Omani Embassy in Riyadh,” he continued.
“Our concern is to find him and we hope he will reunite with us soon,” he added.
His father pleaded with the Omani authorities help to get his son back. “Please help us get our son back,” he said.
