Muscat: The report of the Food and Water Security Committee on the draft Living Aquatic Resources Law has been referred by Majlis Al Shura to the State Council. The report had earlier been referred to it referred by the Government.
The report was read by Hilal bin Said Al Yahya’ee, Head of the Food and Water Security Committee, its Rapporteur during the session.
The Committee has already hosted a number of entities related to its work in the living aquatic resources sector in the Sultanate.
The Committee met with experts from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. This came during the 23rd regular session of the 3rd annual sitting (2017-2018) of the 8th term (2015-2019), under the chair of Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura.
During the meeting, Majlis Al Shura expressed its views on the vision of the Services and Social Development Committee on the amendment of the Convention on the Organisation of Air Transport Services between the Government of the Sultanate and the Government of Kuwait. It also expressed its views on the two draft Maritime Agreements between the Government of the Sultanate, the Government of Turkey and the Government of the Republic of India, and the draft Air Services Agreement between the Government of the Sultanate and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Majlis was briefed on the convention for the establishment of the Global Dryland Alliance.
