Al Hasani hails media role during Cyclone Mekunu

Muscat: Dr. Abdul Munim bin Mansour Al Hasani, Minister of Information yesterday met with editors-in-chief of local newspapers and DGs of the private Radio and TV facilities.
During the meeting, the Minister of Information praised the great efforts done by the print, audio, visual and electronic media means to overcome the effects of the adverse climatic condition “Mekunu Cyclone’ that affected the Governorates of Dhofar and Al Wusta’.
He appreciated the role of journalists and media men, especially those who have been in the field.
He praised the role played by media men in raising awareness among the public and providing updated and accurate information.
He noted that these efforts, which were in coordination with the National Civil Defence Committee, has contributed greatly to reducing human losses from the cyclone.
Media coverage
He affirmed that the media coverage for the efforts done by the government, the private sector, individuals and institutions would continue till conditions in Dhofar return to normal.
On their part, the editors-in-chief of local newspapers and DGs of the private Radio and TV facilities appreciated the efforts done by the various sectors of the state to address the adverse climatic conditions and facilitating access to the information needed for media and press
coverage.
