Social media abuzz as restaurant shut in Oman over poor food to school

Muscat: News of Ibri municipality officials closing a restaurant for supplying food prepared under unhygienic conditions to schools has evoked a huge response in social media in the Sultanate.
Many people expressed their dissatisfaction over the news. Talib Al Yaqobi, a parent from Ibri who has children in school said that such things should be dealt with strictly.
“This is our children’s food. This is the food they consume everyday. I wonder how such food is supplied to public schools,” said Al Yaqobi.
He added that such services should be provided by approved suppliers.
“These restaurants should be monitored all the time not only before getting the approval,” Al Yaqobi added.
The restaurant was earlier closed by the Ministry of Regional Municipality represented by Ibri Municipality. Further legal action has been initiated.
