Expat sentenced to three months in jail, fined OMR2,000 in Oman

Muscat: An expat has been sentenced to three months in jail, in addition to being fined OMR2,000 for selling used tyres, the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) announced on Tuesday.
The Preliminary court in Rustaq issued a judgement against the expat who was convicted and fined OMR2,000.
The case began when the administration received a complaint from a consumer who stated that a store sold him used tyres. An employee from the administration visited the establishment and confirmed the report.
PACP said, "A number of used tyres that were on display were seized and destroyed. The man was charged for violating the consumer protection law and a court sentenced the defendant to three months in prison and fined him OMR 2,000."
