Oman share index ends higher

Muscat: Backed by strong gains in Omantel pushed the index to end higher at 4591.14 points, up by 0.53 per cent. MSM Sharia index closed at 653.37 points, up by 0.34 per cent. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. The top gainer of the day was Oman Telecommunication, up by 5.95 per cent while Oman Qatar Insurace down by 9.45 per cent was the top loser.
A total number of 602 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR3.36 million with more than 20.10 million shares changing hands. Out of 36 traded stocks, 13 advanced, 9 declined and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, Foreign investors switched to net buyers for OMR69,000 while Omani Investors switched to net sellers for OMR68,000 followed by GCC& Arab investors for OMR1,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index end on a flat to close at 7130.93 points, marginally down by 0.07 per cent. Bank Nizwa, Gulf Investment Services, Al Madina Takaful and Al Sharqiya Investment increased by 1.15 per cent, 0.97 per cent, 0.93 per cent and 0.83 per cent respectively. Oman Qatar Insurance,Oman& Emirates, Al Madina Investment and Bank Dhofar declined by 9.45 per cent, 2.42 per cent, 1.89 per cent and 1.69 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index ended Monday's session at 6090.85 points, up by 0.57 per cent. Galfar Engineering, Oman Cement and National Aluminium gained by 4.67 per cent, 1.67 per cent and 1.28 per cent respectively. Oman Fisheries was the only loser and was down by 0.87 per cent to close at OMR0.114.
Services Sector Index up by 0.50 per cent to close at 2,491.93 points. Omantel, Muscat City Desalination, Al Jazeira Servies and Oreedoo Oman gained by 5.95 per cent, 2.84 per cent, 0.63 per cent and 0.39 per cent respectively. National Gas was the only loser and was down by 0.55 per cent to close at OMR0.360.
