Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Culture signed an agreement with Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran) for management and operation of Harat Al Bilad in the Wilayat of Manah in the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah.
It is the first agreement of its kind that provides the opportunity for management and utilising the Harat (Neighbourhood) through the restored units and their facilities.
The agreement was signed by Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture for Heritage Affairs and Salah bin Salim Al Ghazali from Omran.
The agreement aims at utilising the architectural heritage and its sustainability, as well as enhancing the tourism activity and benefiting from the local communities through attracting more visitors for this site, providing job opportunities and organising various activities by the operator as part of the seasonal programmes in coordination with the other surrounding tourist sites, such as Jibreen Castle, Nizwa Castle and Bahla Oasis, which is registered at the UNESCO World Heritage List.
