Steps to register firms made easy

Muscat: As part of implementing the fourth stage of the comprehensive development project for the services and works of the one-stop-shop ‘Invest Easy’ at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), the application for getting a prior approval to add the transaction activities in the communications devices have been cancelled.
This step comes with the objective of facilitating and simplifying the procedures of issuing the commercial registration licences.
Abdullah bin Ali Al Kalbani, head of the Samples Receipt Department and head of the Licences working team at ‘Invest Easy’ project said: "An agreement has been made between the MOCI and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) to exempt the investors from the requirement of getting a prior notice from the TRA on applying for adding the activities of dealing with the communications devices."
"The investors will be also exempted from paying the prescribed fees for such activities as of 21 December 2015. The rules and systems contained in the regulation of dealing with the communications devices issued by the TRA by virtue of decision no.: (59/2015 AD) should also be complied with and taken into consideration," he added.
"The applications for getting a prior approval have been cancelled for some activities including the trade of phones and communications devices; selling and maintaining radio devices and terminal equipment; types of other retail trade in mobile phones; selling and distributing mobile cards; sale of electrical cables, communication devices and equipment; sale of radio and wireless devices; in addition to the sale of phones and mobile phones accessories." Al Kalbani confirmed.
"Investors can register or add such activities without any requirement to get a license or a prior approval from the TRA," he concluded.
