Oman issues statement on Israel-Palestine conflict

Muscat: The Sultanate has reaffirmed its support for the rights of the State of Palestinian, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

In a statement online, the ministry said, "The Sultanate affirms its solidarity and support for the just rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the borders of 4 June 1967 (accord) with Jerusalem as its capital. And calls for a political solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict."

This comes as the United States opened its embassy to Israel in Jerusalem. The U.S. move fulfilled a pledge by President Donald Trump, who has recognised Jerusalem as the Israeli capital, but it has fired Palestinian anger and drawn criticism from many foreign governments as a setback to peace efforts.
