Muscat: As many as 162 new industrial units have registered in Oman with a total investment of OMR431.21 million in 2015, said Eng. Ali bin Saif Al Hadi, secretary of the Industrial Register at the Directorate General of Industry at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
During the same period, the directorate also issued 796 industrial licences for investments worth of OMR8.59 million.
He added that the directorate received 221 applications for licences, 103 applications for industrial registration and 83 applications for manpower. The number of applications for land usufruct and challenges facing the factories stood at 77. During 2015, 3,643 application forms were made for industrial licence.
He added that the Industrial Register Secretariat issued 933 new, transport and expansion licences in 2015. The number of initial approvals stood at 446 compared to 438 new licences, 28 transport licences and 21 expansion licences.
"During 2015, 127 new industrial registries were issued and 32 industrial registries were renewed," he added.
