People in Oman warned against direct, long exposure to sunlight

Muscat: The Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) has called upon people to avoid exposure to direct sun rays/high temperatures and doing any activities during the day for long hours.
This is aimed at avoiding emergency cases associated with high temperatures. The high temperatures during the day could cause serious health issues that could put lives at risks and need immediate medical treatment.
To avoid the impact of high temperatures on health, the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance also called for drinking adequate quantity of water and to avoid exposures to direct sun rays, not to wear tight dress and not to exercise while it’s hot and humid.
The PACDA said that those affected with high temperatures should be moved to shade away from direct sun rays or to a cold place. If the affected person is alert and conscious, then he /she should be given water and juice and a wet piece of cloth should be put on his head and limbs, before being shifted to the nearest health institution.
