Indian schools board holds meeting to boost synergy

Muscat: The Board of Directors (BoD), Indian Schools in Oman recently organised ‘Synergy 2018’ – a meeting of the presidents and members of the management committees of all the Indian Schools in Oman.
The event, held on May 5, 2018 at Indian School Muscat auditorium, was aimed to enhance the symbiosis and synergy between the crucial administrators of the educational system.
Indra Mani Pandey, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and also launched the Board’s revamped website, with additional user-friendly features.
The guests of honour at the event were Mrs. Khadija Ali Mohamed Al Salamiya, Assistant Director General for the Educational Affairs and Mrs. Siddiqa Abdul Majeed Al Lawatiya, Director, International Schools Office, Ministry of Education.
In the inaugural address, Indra Mani Pandey appreciated the efforts taken by the previous board in providing quality education through Indian Schools in the Sultanate. He reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to the Indian diaspora in fulfilling the educational needs of every child and wished the new Board success in all the educational endeavours as envisaged in its ‘Vision 2020’.
Dr. Baby Sam Saamuel, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Indian Schools presented the overall educational vision of the board as per its plan ‘Vision 2020’.
The ultimate aim, is to ensure that every child will undergo transformative learning and be equipped with the knowledge, skills and well-being to find identity and purpose in life. Dr.
Sam elucidated the roles and responsibilities of the Management Committees as facilitators in the educational process and urged them to be accountable to the different stakeholders of the system.
The chairman also presented a summary of the academic initiatives planned by the Board, to be carried out in the next two years in all Indian Schools. These consist of carefully designed activities across diverse areas, pertaining to the holistic development of the students as well as the professional enhancement of the staff.
The other directors on the Board too presented plans and strategies for various initiatives: Directors, Sirajudeen Nhelat, Mohammad Faizi and Niteesh Sundaresan enlightened the gathering on programmes in IT, infrastructure development and HSE respectively while Selvichen Jacob gave a presentation on the procedures of addressing grievances in the system.
The Board also took the opportunity to honour and felicitate former members of the board, school management committees and outgoing Principal for their contribution and service to the society and schools. Among those facilitated were former Chairman Wilson V. George, former members of the Board Kiran Asher, Ajayan Poyyara, N. Omanakuttan, Dr. C.K. Anchan and P. J. Mani. Three outgoing Presidents – Mohammad Koya (Indian School Buraimi), Mujib Reheman (Indian School Khasab) and Ravi Jayanthi (Indian School Al Seeb) – along with Mrs. Anamika Sharma, the outgoing Principal of Indian School Jalan, were presented mementos at the function.
The event concluded with the vote of thanks from M. P. Vinoba, Senior Principal and Education Advisor.
