Muscat: Many Iranian businesspersons have for the very first time, set up stalls at the agro food expo and hope to find a market in Oman.
Persons managing Iranian stalls at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) event said that they had learnt of the agro food expo through organisers who help Iranian merchants sell their products at events in Oman, including Muscat Festival.
Among the Iranian merchants was Ali Raza Bahraini, the managing director of the Tehran-based dry fruit company Yegane Bahre Taban. He said that he was optimistic of finding a receptive market in Oman.
“It is our first time here and we are checking how things are here. If we find enough customers here, we might very well want to sell our products here. We sell pistachios, raisins, figs, walnuts, dates and the like,” Ali said.
Nafees Malakzadeh, sales manager of Mehran Avishe Corporation hoped that her company’s products, especially the organic and medicinal honey would sell in Oman.
“We have about 2,000 bee colonies in Taleghan in Iran. Our organic and medicinal honey usually does well in the Iranian market. Hopefully, it will find takers here in Oman as well,” Nafees remarked.
Rama Mehr Arya Company, which is based in the Iranian city of Qom also set up a stall at the agro food expo for the very first time. The company’s sales manager Meysam Moosavian said that they sell corn-based snacks, including chips and the like.
“We are very excited to be here in Oman for the first time. The purpose of setting up this stall is to firstly, test our product here and see, if people like it and secondly and more importantly to be able to find a distributor to get our product across to the Omani people.
