Agriculture Minister opens Agro-Food Oman exhibition

Muscat: The Second Agro-Food Oman exhibition got underway at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) on Monday.
It was inaugurated by Dr. Fuad bin Jaafar Al Sagwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries.
The exhibition includes agriculture, fisheries, Food and Halal Exhibition, besides the World Halal Food Assembly.
The event is being organised by Al Nimr International Exhibition Organisers under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. Agriculture and Fisheries is one of the sectors which the government of Oman is looking to expand on in its Tanfeedh or economic diversification and expansion plan.
The expo aims to link the sector and relevant government organisations with industry experts and suppliers by sharing innovative ideas and solutions to transform the sector, besides realising the potential involved toward its contribution to the Sultanate’s growing economy.
The three-day exhibition will feature over 150 companies, both local and foreign, including firms from countries like Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Iran, Indonesia, India, Italy, Jordan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Qatar, Slovenia, Netherlands, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, South Africa, among others.
World Halal and Food Assembly Oman, a two-day conference will be held alongside the Agro-Food Oman Exhibition and will get underway on May 8. The conference will feature Omani and international experts from the sector.
The exhibition is being sponsored by Al Ariq Equipment and Bank Nizwa, Unikai, Agthia Group, Hayter, Solis and Dhofar Beverages and Foodstuff Company.
Agro-Food Oman will throw light on issues related to sundry issues related to the farming, animal husbandry and fisheries sector.
This will include agriculture and food products, aqua-culture, fisheries and livestock, farming technology, greenhouse and horticulture, environmental management, pesticides and chemicals, slaughter houses and quartering rooms, pulses and grains, dairy, meat & poultry, coffee, tea, dates and honey, logistics and Halal Food, among other
