Muscat: Oman’s Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Saidi, inaugurated the 18th Omani International Dental Conference at the Grand Hayyat Hotel on Thursday.
The conference, organised by the Oman Dental Society in collaboration with the Medical Services of the Armed Forces and the Royal Oman Police (ROP), was held under the theme “Towards shaping the future of Dental Profession.”
Dr Al Saidi in his remarks had pointed out that dental and oral health is fundamental to the Sultanate’s health system and that spreading awareness about it is essential.
The two-day conference witnessed the participation of more than 400 doctors and specialists from the Sultanate and abroad, where more than 50 speakers from 16 countries will present lectures.
The scientific sessions of the conference will highlight the latest techniques and research related to oral and dental health in its different disciplines, such as Paediatric Dentistry, Maxillofacial Surgery, Endodontics, and Primary and Conservative Dentistry. They also asserted the principle of dental and oral primary health care.
Furthermore, the sessions introduced the participants to the code of professional ethics in dental treatments, medical imaging controls, and the use of CAD/CAM in diagnosis and treatment.
In addition, an international exhibition is being held simultaneously with the scientific conference. The exclusive dental exhibition will display the latest technology related to the various fields of dentistry by more than 30 local and international companies.
