Muscat: Oman will face Japan in next year's Asian Cup, drawing the Blue Samurai in a tough Group F.
The Red Warriors will also face-off against Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, who occupy the other two spots in the group.
Asia's most prestigious international football competition will kick-off in the UAE on January 5, 2019. A total of eight venues will be used throughout the competition, with Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Sports City Stadium hosting the final on February 1.
Hosts UAE were drawn in Group A and will play the opening match of the tournament against West Asian rivals Bahrain, with India and Thailand also drawn in the group.
Meanwhile, holders Australia will begin their title defence in Group B, where they will face Syria, Palestine, and Jordan.
All eyes will be on Group D, where Iran will be joined Iraq, Vietnam, and Yemen.
A number of highly anticipated match-ups is bound to thrill neutrals in Group E, which includes Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Lebanon, and North Korea.
