Oman share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: MSM Index closed with a positive bias on Monday at 4731.27 points, up by 0.05 per cent. MSM Sharia Index ended at 660 points, up by 0.55 per cent. Al Madina Takaful was the most active stock in terms of volume and turnover. It remained the top gainer as well, up 6.00 per cent, while the top loser was Voltamp Energy, down 10.00 per cent. A total number of 1,009 trades were executed, generating turnover of OMR4.04 million with 31.98 million shares changing hands. Out of 44 traded securities, 11 advanced, 11 declined and 22 remained unchanged. At the session close, Foreign investors were net buyers for OMR47,000 followed by GCC & Arab Investors for OMR20,000 while Omanis continued to be net sellers for OMR67,000 worth of shares. Financial Index closed higher by 0.31 per cent at 7289.10 points. Al Madina Takaful, Al Madina Investment, United Finance, Alizz Islamic Bank, and HSBC Bank Oman were up by 6.00 per cent, 3.77 per cent, 2.78 per centc, 1.32 per cent, and 0.96 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman & Emirates Investment Holding, Oman Qatar Insurance, Takaful Oman, and Bank Sohar were down by 4.88 per cent, 2.40 per cent, 0.71 per cent, and 0.68 per cent respectively. Industrial Index closed lower by 0.25 per cent at 6351.65 points. Oman Flour Mills and Galfar Engineering ended higher, gaining by 3.93 per cent and 3.74 per cent respectively. Voltamp Energy, Oman Cement, and Oman Cables were down by 10.00 per cent, 0.56 per cent, and 0.45 per cent respectively. Services Index ended flat at 2525.43 points. Al Kamil Power and Phoenix Power were up by 2.66 per cent and 1.47 per cent respectively while Muscat City Desalination, Omantel, Al Suwadi Power, and Al Jazeera Services were down by 2.74 per cent, 0.95 per cent, 0.78 per cent, and 0.62 per cent respectively.
