Consumer watchdog recovers over OMR50,000 in Oman

Muscat: The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) managed to recover over OMR50,000 during the first quarter of 2018, in Sohar.
The Directorate General for Consumer Protection in North Batinah managed to recover OMR44,543.9 for consumers while OMR8,230 worth of administrative fines were recovered.
According to a report by the Department of Studies and Development, "The money recovered was from a number of sectors. Among them OMR24,815 was from labour services, while OMR4,286 was recovered from the aluminum and carpentry sector."
The report also pointed out that the total administrative fines during the first four months of 2018 amounted to OMR8,230 which was received through a number of violations, including the sale and supply of expired goods, as well as increasing the price of goods and services without the approval of Authorities.
