Ministry of Manpower launches Innovation Award

Muscat: The Ministry of Manpower on Sunday launched the Innovation Award in its first edition under the patronage of Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al Hinai, Secretary General of The Research Council (TRC) and in the presence of Dr. Mona bint Salim Al Jardaniyah, Technological and Vocational Education Undersecretary and officials of government and private innovation-support institutions.
The award aims to spread the concept and culture of innovation, stimulate competition among students of technological and vocational colleges and ministry employees, attract them to highlight their creations and innovations.
The award aims to increase innovative ideas and production based on knowledge, to transform it into a project with a tangible value that has added value to the Sultanate’s national economy.
Dr. Mona bint Salim Al Jardaniyah, Undersecretary of Technological Education and Vocational Training, delivered a speech in which she said that the Ministry recognises the importance of joining efforts in building national capacities and promoting the culture of innovation.
The areas of the award include industrial, tourism, commercial, technical, environmental, occupational safety, food security, design and social initiatives.
Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al Hinai, TRC Secretary General said: “We are delighted to inaugurate the Ministry of Manpower Innovation Award to develop the innovative environment in the Sultanate and to train students and employees in the Ministry to take leadership and innovation as a renewed work method. The award will give a significant push to students and employees for more achievements, and we hope that this award will be an incentive at the level of other institutions that support innovation.”
