Omani authorities detain foreign vessels over illegal fishing

Muscat: As part of the national efforts of the Maritime Security Centre and in cooperation with the various military, security and civil authorities concerned with maritime security in the country, the centre, in coordination with the Royal Navy of Oman, has detained a group of foreign fishing vessels that were illegally fishing in economic waters of the Sultanate in the Governorate of Dhofar.
It is worth mentioning that the Maritime Security Centre is responsible for developing the necessary mechanisms to secure the Omani territorial sea and exclusive economic waters in the Sultanate, as well as ensuring the safety of seaports, installations and coasts against maritime security threats with the participation of maritime security authorities in the country.
