Oman share index ends higher

Muscat: The MSM30 index moved 0.25 per cent higher on Sunday and closed at 4,734.42 points. MSM Sharia Index ended at 658.04 points, up by 0.43 per cent. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of volume and turnover. Construction Materials was the top gainer, up 10.34 per cent, while the top loser was United Power, down 20.00 per cent.
A total number of 605 trades were executed, generating turnover of OMR3.02 million with 34.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 36 traded securities, 7 advanced, 13 declined and 16 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net sellers for OMR82,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR22,000 while Foreign investors were net buyers for OMR10,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed up by 0.23 per cent at 7,241.11 points. Al Sharqiya Investments, Al madina Takaful, Gulf Investment Services, Alizz Islamic Bank, and Bank Muscat gained by 2.50 per cent, 2.08 per cent, 1.94 per cent, 1.33 per cent, and 1.06 per cent, respectively. Prices of Takaful Oman, Oman & Emirates Investment Holding, Vision Insurance, and Al Anwar Holding declined by 2.78 per cent, 2.46 per cent, 1.36 per cent and 0.68 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index gained by 0.74 per cent to finish at 6,330.85 points. Construction Materials, Al Hassan Engineering, Galfar Engineering, National Aluminium, and Al Anwar Ceramics closed higher by 10.34 per cent, 5.26 per cent, 4.17 per cent, 1.88 per cent and 1.77 per cent, respectively.
Services Index down by 0.07 per cent to end at 2538.31 points. OIFC was the only stock from Services Sector that closed higher on Sunday. It went up by 1.72 per cent to close at OMR0.118. United Power, Al Jazeera Services, and Omantel closed lower by 20 per cent, 0.62 per cent, and 0.47 per cent, respectively.
