Oman’s 2019 draft budget sent to Council of Ministers

Muscat: The State Council has referred the Draft General Budget 2019 to the Council of Ministers, accompanied by the recommendations of the State Council and Majlis Al Shura.
The referral was made during the second regular meeting of the fourth annual convening of the sixth term of the State Council yesterday.
The Draft Budget was referred to the State Council by the Majlis, following discussions on the report prepared by the expanded economic committee, which includes members of the economic committee and chairpersons of the permanent committees of the State Council, after amendments to the draft budget.
The meeting was chaired by Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, chairman of the State Council, in the presence of the members and Dr. Khalid bin Salim Al Saidi, Secretary General of the State Council. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Harthy, Chairman of the Economic Committee of the Council, delivered a statement on the draft general budget for 2019.
He pointed out that the indicators of the results of the performance of the budget in 2018 showed an improvement in some indicators of financial sustainability, through the decline of the deficit to GDP.
Ministry of Finance
The Council expressed its appreciation to the Ministry of Finance for its efforts in preparing the draft budget.
It also thanked the members of the Expanded Economic Committee and the assistant panel for their efforts in studying the draft budget, hoping that their views would contribute to the strengthening of the State Budget Project and to the Government’s efforts to achieve sustainability.
