Adam: Eng. Abdullah bin Ali Al Kheyari, Director General of Roads and Land Transport at the Ministry of Transport and Communications affirmed that the ministry has begun to implement Adam - Thumrait dual-carriageway project "parts I and II," extending for 240km, which starts from the end of Izz-Adam dual-carriageway. The project includes a multi-level interchanges to serve the bypass traffic.
Eng. Al Kheyari told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the project was designed to be passable during all weather conditions, and several locations were allocated for integrated service stations to be used by the concerned parties, in addition to providing many side parking areas and parking areas for trucks and weights truck stations in order to adjust the axial and overall loads on the road.
He explained that the cross-section of the road consists of two lanes (3.75 meters each) in each direction and 24 meter mid-island, 3 meter outside shoulder, 1.5 meter inside shoulder. He added that the island is provided with metal barriers in both sides.
