Muscat: A number of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) from Oman along with numerous international jewellery brands will be participating in the ninth edition of the Muscat International Jewellery Exhibition (MIJEX) that will be held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC).
The premier global trade fair, starting from December 11 and continuing until December 15, is jointly organised by OCEC and VEGA Intertrade and Exhibition.
It will showcase the latest designs of international jewellery brands, as well as feature a wide range of precious and authentic gemstones, spectacular pearls, attractive ornaments and fabulous diamonds.

“Looking at the turnout last year, there were some 8,000 visitors, and this has encouraged us to host the exhibition with more confidence this year. We are positive that the turnout would not be less than 10,000,” said Hassan Ramadhan Sulaiman, Deputy Director General at OCEC.
He added that this year, one lucky winner will have the opportunity to win a fabulous diamond watch by Salem Al Shueibi Jewellery through a raffle draw.
“To win, visitors are not required to spend any amount at the exhibition. All they need to do is visit the trade fair and register their names at the entrance counter. Once the registration is completed, they will be given a token to participate in the raffle draw,” Sulaiman explained.
Moreover, jewellery machinery, material tools, equipment and accessories will be showcased at the trade fair from a wide range of manufacturers and distributors from within the region and outside.
“Oman is coming out as a great market, as international companies participating in the trade fair are increasing and they look forward to it. While Oman is being recognised as a gateway to the gems and jewellery business, MIJEX is regarded as one of the most exquisite jewellery exhibitions in the region,” said Akavut Tangsilikusonwong, Managing Director of Vega Intertrade and Exhibitions.
The managing director, also known as Tony, said the exhibition is open to companies and the public.
“It will attract companies from across the world, including Oman, Lebanon, India, Qatar, Italy, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates,” Tony added.
