Avengers: Endgame sets record as most watched trailer in 24 hours

Muscat: The trailer to Marvel's highly anticipated 'Avengers: Endgame' has set a new record with more than 289 million views in 24 hours, according to the entertainment giant.

In a statement online, Marvel Studios said, "To the greatest fans in the world, thank you for being there from the beginning until the endgame and making this the most viewed trailer in history with 289M views in 24 hours!"

The views were calculated based on the trailer's performance on YouTube and the studio's social media platforms.

The movie is the fourth in the Avengers franchise and follows the events of this year's Infinity War. Endgame could mark the end for a number of Earth's mightiest heroes, including cast members Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), and Chris Hemsworth (Thor).

Avengers: Endgame is expected to release worldwide on April 26 2019.
