Muscat: A total of 25 abandoned vehicles were towed away to the municipality waste dump by the Dhofar Municipality in Salalah.
This was done as part of the municipality’s efforts to “maintain the overall appearance of Salalah”.
According to an official from Dhofar Municipality, “As part of the municipality’s role in maintaining the hygiene and overall appearance of Salalah city, the Dhofar Municipality continues its efforts to remove dilapidated and neglected vehicles.
Dhofar Municipality added, "The presence of neglected cars results in the accumulation of dust in addition to the breeding of rodents and insects, as well as the distortion of the general scene. During the campaign, waste, various distortions, and about 25 vehicles were moved from the industrial workshop area to the municipality waste dump.”
The municipality official added that through this campaign they will continue to target all sites and areas in Salalah in the near future. The municipality also calls on citizens to cooperate by not neglecting their vehicles in a way that violates the law. They also call on people to combat this phenomenon by reporting such vehicles, by calling the Municipal Communications Centre on 1450 or 80071450 or through social media until the necessary action is taken against the violators.
