Humboldt: At least fourteen people were killed when a bus carrying a Canadian junior hockey team - the Humboldt (HUM-BOLT) Broncos - collided with a truck in the province of Saskatchewan Friday evening.
There were 29 people on the bus.
Kevin Garinger, president of Humboldt Broncos Hockey Club said, "And we'll never forget the members of the Broncos family who were taken from us and who were injured."
The hockey team was heading to Nipawin to play the Nipawin Hawks in the semifinals of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League playoffs when the accident happened... It sent shockwaves across the hockey-loving nation.. Bill Chow, president of Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League said, "I don't have a lot to say other than, the worst nightmare has happened."
Mayor of Humboldt, Rob Muench said, "This is truly a dark moment for our city."
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sent his condolences in a tweet saying: "I cannot imagine what these parents are going through, and my heart goes out to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy, in the Humboldt community and beyond."
15 others were injured with some in critical condition.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured, according to police and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
