Muscat: Meet Ahmed Al Yahyai, who is one of Oman's youngest parkour athletes at just 16 years old.
Al Yahyai first took up parkour when he was only 13 years old, "I am sixteen years old and started three years ago. What attracted me to this sport was the action and the movement involved in it."

According to David Belle, who is considered the father of parkour, "Parkour is a method of physical training that involves movement that will help if one is in an escape emergency situation. The sport requires mental and physical strength."
But he says that being involved in such an active sport does have its drawbacks, physically. "I have been injured many times, in fact, two months ago I hurt my leg and it took me a month and a half to recover."
Despite it being only two since his recovery, Al Yahyai has been eager to get back into action. "After my injury, I wanted to get back to parkour because of I love this sport and I enjoy it," said Al Yahyai.

With over 20,000 followers on Instagram, Ahmed has slowly begun creating a fan base for himself. "I think many people like watching my videos because Omanis love seeing action, many people think what I do is hard and so they are amazed," Al Yahai said.
Initially, not everyone was onboard with his decision, though. "In the beginning, my parents didn't like the idea of me jumping around, they knew I could get hurt, but after they saw that I was serious about it and how I progressed, they began supporting me," Al Yahyai said.
