Oman’s share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM30 Index posted a marginal recovery to end at 4,750.15 points, up 0.27 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 677.54 points, down 0.01 per cent. Gulf Investment Services was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. The top gainer was Al Hassan Engineering, up 11.43 per cent while the top loser was Global Financial Investment, down 9.60 per cent.
A total number of 1,361 trades were executed on Monday, generating turnover of OMR4.48 million with 29.6 million shares changing hands. Out of 49 traded securities, 18 advanced, 13 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors remained net buyers for OMR443,000 while Foreign investors were net sellers for OMR299,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR144,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index had sharp gains of 0.98 per cent to close at 7,175.46 points. Gulf Investment Services, Al Batinah Development, Al Sharqia Investments, Al Madina Investments and Bank Sohar gained 6.12 per cent, 4.17 per cent, 4.10 per cent, 3.64 per cent and 2.94 per cent respectively. Global Financial Investment, Takaful Oman and Bank Dhofar declined 9.60 per cent, 1.25 per cent and 1.01 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index declined 0.15 per cent to finish at 6,618.23 points. Al Hassan Engineering and Al Jazeera Steel gained 11.43 per cent and 3.13 per cent respectively. Galfar Engineering, Muscat Thread Mills, Oman Cement and Oman Flour Mills decreased 3.51 per cent, 2.60 per cent, 1.10 per cent and 0.59 per cent respectively.
Services Index ended at 2,619.57 points, up 0.28 per cent. National Gas, Al Jazeera Services, Renaissance Services, MCDE and Oman National Engineering gained 7.06 per cent, 4.42 per cent, 3.26 per cent, 2.72 per cent and 1.12 per cent respectively. Muscat Gases, Al Suwadi Power, Omantel, Al Batinah Power and OIFC declined 3.53 per cent, 2.14 per cent, 1.79 per cent, 1.44 per cent and 0.79 per cent respectively.
