Muscat: The Penal Appeal Court has detained suspects involved in the hunting of an Arabian deer from the Al Sareen Nature Reserve in the wilayat of Amerat.
The sanctuary falls under the Environment Preservation Office of the Diwan of Royal Court. The suspects hunted an Arabian deer in violation of Article 15/B of the Law on Natural Sanctuaries and Protection of Natural Life.
The detainees were sentenced to six months of imprisonment. The first suspect was sentenced to additional one month in jail for driving without a licence and possession of a gun without a licence.
Patrols of Natural Life Control Department found a number of persons who had hunted an Arabian deer from the Al Sareen Nature Reserve using a gun. They informed ROP who managed to arrest the suspects with a slaughtered deer. The suspects were found with the gun, knife and the bag containing the slaughtered deer.
