Oman’s share index recovers marginally

Muscat: The MSM30 Index ended at 4,774.04 points with gains of 0.31 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index ended at 682.29 points, up 0.41 per cent. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat led in terms of turnover. The top gainer was Al Hassan Engineering, up 5.88 per cent while the top loser was United Finance, down 9.76 per cent.
A total number of 1,175 trades were executed on Wednesday, generating turnover of OMR5.11 million with 29.4 million shares changing hands. Out of 40 traded securities, 18 advanced, 11 declined and 11 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors switched to net buyers for OMR562,000 while Foreign investors were net sellers for OMR289,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR273,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index increased 0.25 per cent to close at 7,150.12 points. Al Sharqia Investment, Al Batinah Development, Oman & Emirates Holding, Oman United Insurance and Al Madina Takaful gained 5.41 per cent, 4.65 per cent, 1.87 per cent, 1.85 per cent and 1.12 per cent respectively. United Finance, Global Financial Investment, Taageer Finance, Oman Qatar Insurance and Al Anwar Holding declined 9.76 per cent, 9.52 per cent, 8.26 per cent, 3.57 per cent and 0.65 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index retreated 0.61 per cent to finish at 6,626.67 points. Al Hassan Engineering, National Aluminium, Construction Materials, Galfar Engineering and Al Anwar Ceramics gained 5.88 per cent, 4.05 per cent, 4.00 per cent, 1.92 per cent and 0.83 per cent respectively. Al Jazeera Steel, Oman Refreshments, Oman Flour Mills and Oman Cement slid 6.51 per cent, 2.63 per cent, 0.58 per cent and 0.55 per cent respectively.
Services Index advanced 0.42 per cent to end at 2,594.71 points. Oman National Engineering, Al Jazeera Services, Ooredoo, Omantel and OIFC gained 5.33 per cent, 4.57 per cent, 3.27 per cent, 0.93 per cent and 0.76 per cent respectively. Renaissance Services, down 0.57 per cent, was the sole sector loser.
