Oman’s share index declines marginally

Muscat: Dividend adjustment in heavyweight stocks weighed on the MSM30 Index, which closed at 4,758.42 points, a loss of 0.92 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index declined 0.44 per cent to end at 678.53 points. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. The top gainer was Renaissance Services, up 4.17 per cent while the top loser was NBO, down 7.11 per cent.
A total number of 885 trades were executed on Monday, generating turnover of OMR2.83 million with 19.9 million shares changing hands. Out of 39 traded securities, 15 advanced, 9 declined and 15 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors switched to net buyers for OMR50,000 followed by Foreign investors for OMR15,000 while Omani investors were net sellers for OMR65,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index had sharp loss of 1.10 per cent to close at 7,151.47 points. Gulf Investment Services, Oman & Emirates Holding, Bank Nizwa, Al Madina Takaful and Al Anwar Holding gained 2.17 per cent, 1.90 per cent, 1.18 per cent, 1.10 per cent and 0.65 per cent respectively. NBO, Muscat Finance, Bank Sohar and Ominvest declined 7.11 per cent, 2.88 per cent, 0.65 per cent and 0.50 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index ended at 6,683.73 point, down 0.17 per cent. Galfar Engineering, Al Anwar Ceramics, National Aluminium, Al Maha Ceramics and Gulf International Chemicals gained 2.97 per cent, 2.56 per cent, 2.07 per cent, 1.42 per cent and 0.95 per cent respectively. Raysut Cement and Voltamp Energy declined 7.04 per cent and 0.83 per cent respectively.
Services Index gained 0.51 per cent to finish at 2,571.81 points. Renaissance Services, Al Jazeera Services and Phoenix Power increased 4.17 per cent, 1.23 per cent and 0.72 per cent respectively. OIFC, Al Batinah Power and MCDE declined 0.76 per cent, 0.71 per cent and 0.66 per cent respectively.
