HCT hosts workshop on ‘Internet of everything’

Muscat: The Higher College of Technology's IT Department conducted on 21 March the 2016 CISCO Academy Instructor and Student Engagement, a 2-day conference cum workshop with the theme, “The Next Big Thing: The Internet of Everything.”

The first day of the event, held at the HCT Auditorium, was attended by CISCO Academy instructors from 22 different colleges and universities across the Sultanate of Oman, lead main contacts, heads of section and department, college officials and other guests who all received updates on the latest trends in technology, particularly the Internet of Everything (IoE) from CISCO Technical experts, March Khayat and WalidIssa of CISCO TMENA region.

The two served as resource speakers, together with Mr. Ahmed Al-Naabi, Project Specialist from Information Technology Authority, Oman.

The second day culminated with a very enriching training engagement and workshop about the Internet of Everything (IoE).

The Bachelor and Advanced Diploma students from Networking and Internet and Security specializations of HCT participated in this event.

The students had the opportunity to engage in a hands-on workshop, exploring their creativity in conceptualizing and prototyping smart projects using available tools/kits like Raspberry Pi, Arduino, skills in Python and Java programming, and some advanced technologies offered at CISCO NetAcad website.

The training workshop was facilitated by the CISCO TMENA Technical Manager, Mr. Marc Khayat, with the assistance of the ITC Instructor Trainers.
