Muscat: Gulf Hotel (Oman) Company Limited on Wednesday signed a contract with Douglas OHI, civil engineering & building contractors, to refurbish Crowne Plaza Muscat.
The management is eager to revamp the hotel with a local but modern design, considering Crowne Plaza’s corporate identity standards.
Construction is scheduled to begin on May 15 and is expected to be completed by August 31 this year. The contract includes rebuilding of the entire pool area, along with a new state-of-the-art infinity pool, a new Edge restaurant with an ocean view, extensions to three existing restaurants, as well as emphasising the entire terrace space to highlight the stunning beach-front view.
The main all-day dining restaurant is also being redesigned and extended, along with a new reception area. This would be supplemented by a new contemporary designed façade of the building, to go with the refreshing new look of the entire hotel.
Herve Corvest, Area General Manager for Crowne Plaza Muscat, said: “Our hotel brings alive the rich culture and heritage of Oman through the authentic experiences we provide our clients. It is an honour for us all at Crowne Plaza Muscat to have reached this significant milestone in our journey.”
“We are excited about the renovation works and look forward to welcoming our esteemed guests and showcasing our new facilities in September 2018. Our renovation, when complete, will ensure that Crowne Plaza Muscat will remain one of the highly preferred destinations to stay and dine at in Muscat,” he added.
The signing ceremony was attended by the board of directors of Gulf Hotel, Douglas OHI representatives and Hoehler + alSalmy’s (H+S) delegates as the design consultants of the project.
